With the Austin Marathon 1 month away, just like to remind people of a study in 2006 that found an increased risk of melanoma in marathon runners:
It is important to remember to protect your skin as you are logging longer runs and longer times in the sun. Trying to avoid the middle of the day (10AM - 4PM) and using sweat-proof SPF 30 or better sunscreens are important. Using waxy stick sunscreens on the forehead and temples may be more reliable about not running into the eyes. Sun protective clothing has improved over the years as well.
