Microneedling Q & A

Balcones Dermatology & Aesthetics

What is micro-needling?

At Balcones Dermatology and Aesthetics, our aesthetician uses the Eclipse Micropen™ Elite to improve the appearance of your skin. This innovative device uses automated micro-needling, sometimes called collagen induction therapy (CIT).

This FDA-approved technique is safe for all skin types and can improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Acne and traumatic scars

  • Stretch marks

  • Dark spots

  • Melasma

How does micro-needling work?

When you see Dr. Bushore for skin rejuvenation, he creates a personalized treatment plan to address your skincare needs. Depending on your specific goals and issues, he may recommend micro-needling.

Using the Eclipse Micropen Elite, our highly qualified aestheticians,  creates micro-injuries with the 12 sterile micro needles in the device. While these injuries don’t hurt, they do spur your body’s natural healing response.

As part of this healing, the body naturally breaks down dark spots — including those from pigmentation and scarring — and promotes an increase in collagen production. This improves your skin’s tone and texture with little downtime.

In some cases, Dr. Bushore may recommend using a serum before micro-needling treatment. This can promote your skin’s healing and enhance the effectiveness of the procedure. Common serums include:

  • Hyaluronic acid

  • Growth factor serum

  • Platelet rich plasma (PRP)

What is micro-needling with PRP for hair?

When Dr. Bushore administers a micro needling procedure with PRP, you get maximum results. PRP uses your body’s growth factors to improve the health of your skin.

To begin the procedure, Dr. Bushore's team of medical assistants draws a vial of blood and places it in a centrifuge. This separates the platelets and growth factors from the blood, making them easy for him to harvest.

Dr. Bushore then takes this plasma, rich in platelets, and injects it into your hairline area before micro-needling. This enhances your skin’s ability to restore itself, leading to a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
