BELOTERO BALANCE® Q & A

Why choose a dermal filler?

The natural layer of fat under your facial skin helps cushion the skin, adding healthy volume and minimizing lines. Over time, this fat thins out, and the skin produces less collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid — substances that add strength, elasticity, and moisture. As a result, wrinkles develop, and your face loses healthy fullness.

Each type of dermal filler is made from slightly different ingredients, and they target different areas of the face. But they’re all specially developed to add back natural fullness and replace some of the lost substances. They’re injected directly into the area that needs help, subsequently diminishing wrinkles, lifting cheeks, plumping lips, and rehydrating or strengthening your skin.

What is BELOTERO BALANCE®?

Belotero Balance is a dermal filler that specifically treats moderate-to-severe lines and wrinkles. It’s especially effective at filling in nasolabial folds, which are the wrinkles that go from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. It may also be considered for treating vertical lines above the lips.

Belotero Balance is made from hyaluronic acid, which normally binds with water, hydrating skin and making it resilient and pliable. In Belotero Balance, the hyaluronic acid is formulated into a smooth, flexible gel that blends into the natural structure of your skin and fills in etched-in lines and wrinkles.

What should you expect during and after treatment?

Belotero Balance is an injection, so your doctor talks with you about what to expect and how to ensure you’re comfortable during the procedure. You may experience some irritation, swelling, itching, redness, or tenderness after the injection. These side effects usually resolve on their own.

The procedure causes little-to-no downtime — most patients get right back to their usual daily activities. However, you’ll need to follow special care instructions. During the first 24 hours after treatment, you should avoid:

  • Strenuous activity
  • Extensive sun or heat exposure
  • Aspirin or non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Alcoholic beverages

Belotero Balance produces natural-looking results — your skin still feels normal to the touch, and your face easily moves and forms expressions. The effect may last up to 6 months or possibly a little longer, depending on the amount used and the extent of movement in that area from eating, talking, and smiling.
